With the unveiling of nine new design
proposals for the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site by
seven architectural firms, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation
announced plans for a public outreach effort. "Plans in Progress"
featured elaborate and passionate presentations by representatives
of the architects, designers, and artists who came up with highly
imaginative ideas for rebuilding downtown. Visitors are now coming
to the Winter Garden by the thousands to view the models, which
have been placed behind the windows of empty storefronts.
Media from all over the world covered the December 18th meeting,
which was attended by downtown residents, politicians, businessmen,
victims' families, and officials. The models and multimedia presentations
will be on display at the World Financial Center. |
