In a far corner of Washington Market
Park is the toddler’s equivalent of buried treasure. With all
the shovels, chicken wire, sheets of plastic and other junk
piled around it, you would never know that thousands of dollars
worth of all-wood, custom-made play equipment lies in the heap,
untouched by children’s hands.

pointy shoes) in vintage style. “I’m not in the game of
the ‘comeback’ or ‘the trend,’” shop owner Jae Jarrell
said. “When it comes to being ‘in,’ this is not the place to
provide that.”

had company. A seal was lounging peacefully on the floating
dock on the pier’s south side.

| New North Cove Operators Look Ahead To
First Season |
Michael Fortenbaugh,
whose newly formed company now has the lease on the North Cove
in Battery Park City, said it could take years to rebuild the
Cove’s reputation as a premier stop for well-heeled world travelers.
On May 1 he told Community Board 1’s Battery Park City Committee
about his plans for running the cove.
