$10 Movies at The Roxy Hotel
The 1987 British film "Withnail and I" plays on Feb. 3 at The Roxy Hotel's cinema.
True to its movie moniker, Downtown's Roxy Hotel shows almost daily in its 99-seat theater on the lower level.
The eclectic program features everything from classics, independent and foreign films to documentary, art house and genre flicks.
A sample of this month's movies include: “Withnail and I,” an offbeat 1987 British black comedy written and directed by Bruce Robinson (Feb 3); “Gimme Danger,” a 2016 American documentary written and directed by Jim Jarmusch about the punk band The Stooges; Fellini's unforgettable La Strada, with Anthony Quinn and Giulietta Masina (Feb. 16); and Louis Malle's 1981 “My Dinner With Andre” starring Andre Gregory and Wallace Shawn in a fascinating conversation (Feb 23).
The Roxy Hotel is at 2 Avenue of the Americas. Tickets are $10. (Take the stairs or elevator downstairs—both are located in the back of the entrance level, on the right side.)
