Increasingly, photographers of Native American descent are seeking to capture the meaning of their heritage. An exhibition at the Museum of the American Indian, “Developing Stories: Native Photographers in the Field,” features the photos of three of those photojournalists: Russel Albert Daniels, Tailyr Irvine and Donovan Quintero. The show, on view through March 12, can also be seen online.  Quintero’s work looks at the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Navajo Nation; Irvine focuses on “the legacy of U.S. government regulations” on personal decisions by Native Americans; and Daniels explores an Indian/Hispanic community’s sense of self.

On Saturday, Feb. 4, the three photographers will discuss their backgrounds and their work. The event, from 1 to 5 p.m., will be live-streamed here. Advanced registration is encouraged
