Every year, the Chen Dance Center gives a group of young choreographers the opportunity to present their works in a program called "newsteps." The six choreographers chosen for this year's "newsteps" are Allison Plamondon, Keith Comley, Lucas Klinge, Elisabeth Archer, Javier Padilla and Caitlin Javech (at right).

Selected through an open audition by judges H.T. Chen, Walter Rutledge, Elizabeth Keen and Lance Westergard, each choreographer receives a stipend, free rehearsal space at the Chen Dance Center, and three public perfomances in the Center's theater.

The subjects of their work range from a post apocalyptic love duet to an examination of the untapped power of women, both in dance and everyday life, to a dive into the inner self and the parts that remain unseen and unheard.
