Art in the Window

"High Tide #3," by Dena Zemsky. Oil on canvas, 2017

Three oil paintings by Dena Zemsky will be on display this month in the Community Art Window of the Western Union Building at the corner of West Broadway and Thomas Street.

According to her artist's statement Zemsky says that her paintings, in which she  layers colors and textures and surface manipulation, "explore the high-tide mark, delineated and defined by the deposit of sea grasses and seaweed." She hopes, she says, "that the viewer will be transported to an imaginary sphere while still referencing images and movement in the natural world."

Artists interested in exhibiting their work in the Community Art Windown should call 212-619-2890.
