Through June 17. Of Granite and Glass is part of choreographer Catherine Galasso’s 10-part series, Of Iron and Diamonds, based on Boccaccio’s 14th century Decameron. The performance will take place in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place. 

Performances by Doug LeCours, Jordan D. Lloyd, Ambika Raina, and Mei Yamanaka, with original music and sound design by Dave Cerf.

Choreographer

Catherine Galasso is a Brooklyn-based choreographer born in New York and raised in Italy. Past performances have been presented by places such as SFMoMA, Joyce SoHo, La MaMa, Danspace Project, MoCA Santa Barbara, the Bibliotheque National in Paris, the International Theater Festival in Kosovo, as well as underground Wall Street bank vaults and decaying 4-story homes. Galasso’s 2015 collaboration with choreographer Andy de Groat (get dancing) was nominated for a New York ‘Bessie’ and her 2011 Bring On The Lumière! was nominated for a San Francisco “Izzie.” Galasso has been awarded residencies from The Watermill Center, Headlands Center for the Arts, Kaatsbaan, ODC Theater (San Francisco), and ZonaD Studio (Bucharest), as well as commissions from Danspace, The River to River Festival, and the San Francisco Foundation. She holds a European Baccalaureate in Painting from an art high school in Venice, Italy, and a BA in Film from Cornell University.

Of Granite and Glass is co-commissioned by Arts Brookfield and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and is presented as part of the 2018 River To River Festival.
