FOR THE FAMILY: Fishing, Bird Watching, Theater, Art

This month on May 13 is Battery Park City's annual "Go Fish" event. Below is a schedule of the day's activities, all of which take place at Wagner Park.

10 am-2 pm: Fishing at Go Fish! Join experienced anglers for catch-and-release fishing and learn about life in the Hudson River. Observe the day’s catch in aerated tanks and discover what you can do to steward the recovery of the Hudson. Art projects for kids.

10 am: Volunteer Gardening Work with BPC Parks’ renowned horticulture staff and experience organic, sustainable gardening by helping in the flower beds.

11 am: Bird Watching Wagner Park is known among birders as a rare urban site to observe birds, especially during fall and spring migration seasons. Join a naturalist/horticulturist team and look for birds and learn about the plantings and flowers which attract them. All ages and experience levels are welcome. Binoculars and field guides are available to borrow.

12 pm: Arm-of-the-Sea Theater presents "Dirt: The Secret Life of Soil Where does food come from, and from what is it made? This is a fun primer on the miraculous workings of the earth beneath us and all the organisms within.
