FOR KIDS: Release Ladybugs in the Park

Washington Market Park's annual Ladybug Day will take place on Saturday, June 16 (rain date, June 17) at 11 a.m. Children will help release 18,000 ladybugs that were collected from California Sierra Mountain Foothills.

The ladybugs, bought from A-1 Unique Insect Control in California, are an economical and organic way to control the park's aphids, a large part of a ladybug's diet. Aphids cause a plant's leaves to curl, wilt and yellow and stunt their growth.

The event is free and open to all.
