We all know that Lower Manhattan has changed dramatically over the past two decades, but in its new exhibit, “Residential Rising: Lower Manhattan Since 9/11,” the Skyscraper Museum has set out to graphically show just how the neighborhood has evolved, and by how much. The residential population has more than doubled, the museum points out, and a display in the show provides an unusual perspective on that growth in terms of not only population, but also apartments, both rented and owned, and entire buildings—from new towers to small, converted former commercial structures. The show provides a fascinating snapshot of what’s been before our eyes all these years, yet too overwhelming to comprehend. Go here for more information.
