NYPD Harbor Patrol recovered a man’s body from the Hudson River north of Pier 26 Monday morning around 10:20 a.m. The discovery of the body follows the apparent drowning of a man on June 15 who witnesses told police had jumped into the water from Pier 45 near Christopher Street around 6:35 p.m., and did not resurface. Efforts by NYPD and FDNY rescuers to find the man were unsuccessful. Tribeca Citizen reported that a dance event featuring Bollywood and Bhangra was taking place at the pier when the man jumped.

Police said Monday afternoon that the identity of the recovered body was “pending,” and the cause of death had yet to be determined. The body was first removed to Pier 26, which remained closed for about two-and-a-half hours.
