Moments of Remembrance: Downtown Reflects on 9/11 Over the Decades

What does it mean, never to forget?

On this 20th anniversary of 9/11, we’re reminded of how, for many, the passage of two decades can mean little as memories of loss and devastation flood back. At the World Trade Center site, once again, the names of the victims will be read, a wrenching reminder of unfathomable loss.

But places of remembrance in Lower Manhattan are not confined to the 16 acres. Over the years, as a photographer, I have tried to be present where Downtown residents, workers and anyone else have chosen to mark that terrible day—or have simply come to the 9/11 Memorial to reflect. This video of photographs, with music by Lance Conrad, is just a sampling of those moments of remembering.
