"Nut/Cracked," Witty and Wild Takeoff on "The Nutcracker"
"Nut/Cracked," The Bang Group’s witty and wild takeoff on "The Nutcracker" returns to The Flea for four performances, Dec. 19, 20, and 21.
Choreographer David Parker's neo-vaudeville version of the classic weaves a dizzying array of dance forms and themes from tap riffs to en pointe ballet to disco, by way of bubble wrap and Chinese take-out noodles. Parker has set his improbable version of the classic ballet to the original Tchaikovsky score, as well as renditions by Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, and Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians.
The 65-minute show is suitable for all ages.
Thursday and Friday, Dec. 19 and 20 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 21, at 3 and 7 p.m.
The Flea is at 20 Thomas St.
Tickets are $35-$55
