At Oculus, Up Close and Personal with Some (Dead Ringer) Fashion Stars

It’s not just any day that a stranger can link arms with Heidi Klum, cozy up to Anna Wintour, or gaze into the eyes of Kendall Jenner. But that’s what visitors to the Oculus found themselves doing earlier this month after happening upon the fashionable facsimiles of those celebs as well as Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio.

In partnership with Westfield World Trade Center, the Madame Tussauds wax figures made their appearances just before the start of New York Fashion Week. Wintour sported her 2019 Met Gala ensemble; Jenner’s look was inspired from her appearance at the 2019 ESPYS; and Klum’s outfit came from the 15th season finale of Project Runway. Arms spread wide and welcoming, Ambrosia beckoned passersby in a bright red asymmetrical halter dress.
But it wasn’t the couture that drew the attention of Oculus goers but the chance for some facetime, and a photo, with these high profile fashionistas. The closest, at least, that they will ever come.
