POLICE BEAT: Bank Hold-Up, Jewelry Theft, Phone Scam

Feb. 10, 12 p.m.

A thief swiped a woman’s wallet from her coat pocket while she was out to having drinks with her co-workers at the bar and grill 121 Fulton Street. She found her coat, which she had hung on a hook under the bar, in the women’s bathroom. Inside the wallet, among other items, was a Metrocard, a driver’s license and two credit cards. The victim later discovered two unauthorized credit card charges at a nearby Lot-Less store.

Feb. 4, 2 p.m.

A man left $4,000, along with two camera lenses valued together at $1,000, in a cab.

Feb. 2, 9 p.m.

Three males who appeared to be in their teens tried to snatch a 28-year-old woman’s handbag from her as she was entering the World Trade Center PATH station. The woman screamed, causing the perpetrators to flee the scene empty-handed.

Jan. 25, 11 a.m.

A man ordered a Chase bank teller to give him $10,000. He said he had a gun but never brandished a weapon. The teller handed him $6,000, which the perpetrator stuffed into a bag before fleeing east on Murray.

 

No. 2 train, near Park Place station
Jan. 22, 3:30 a.m.

A 26-year-old man is under arrest for assaulting a senior he was arguing with on the train. The man punched the 67-year-old woman in the face, causing a bruise and swelling. The victim was treated and released at Mt. Sinai Roosevelt Hospital.

Jan. 20, 7 p.m.

A thief swiped a woman’s wallet that she had left it on a counter in the restaurant Zaitzeff. Inside the wallet were two credit cards, a Metrocard and a Pace University ID.

Jan. 16, 2 p.m.

A man lifted 13 rings, valued together at $33,000, from David Yurman jewelry store by telling the employee he was picking up the rings for a fashion designer customer.

Jan. 9, 6 p.m.

French Cafe Gourmand got scammed $1,970 by wiring the money to a thief who had pretended to be Con Edison threatening to turn off the eatery’s electricity.
