Police Say Woman Bit Cop on Governors Island

A spectator accused of harassing people at a July 4th concert on Governors Island, bit the elbow of a cop who tried to remove her, according to police.

The suspect, a 30-year-old woman from Harrison, NY, was in the crowd at the concert, featuring the Dutch DJ Tiesto, when a female cop attempted to remove her from the crowd. Authorities say the woman bit the officer’s left elbow, then resisted arrest by flailing her arms, kicking and spitting at her before finally being cuffed. The officer was taken to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital for treatment of a contusion to her elbow.

The suspect was charged with multiple misdemeanors, including assault, harassment and resisting arrest. The Legal Aid attorney who represented the suspect at arraignment declined to comment.
