Sen. Squadron Pays Tribute to Downtown's Champion Softballers

“The entire state was beaten by people who live in this tiny neighborhood."

So announced State Sen. Daniel Squadron at the presentation of Senate proclamations last week to two Downtown Little League teams—the Juniors  and 10-11s for winning the New York State Little League Championships in their respective divisions. They are the first Little League softball teams from Manhattan to garner that title.

The commendations, written in the flowery language befitting a proclamation (there were seven “Whereases” and two “Resolveds”), said that “in the Downtown Little League Junior Softball Team, we have a team worthy of our highest respect and esteem.”
