Window Washer Dies in Fall in Tribeca

A 38-year-old window washer died Tuesday afternoon soon after falling from a Tribeca residential building at 335 Greenwich St., police said.

The man, whose name was being withheld by police, was leaning out a fifth-floor apartment without a harness to clean a window, the Daily News reported.
When EMS brought the man to NewYork Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital just before 1:10 p.m., “his condition was awake and breathing,” an FDNY spokesman said. He later died at the hospital, an NYPD spokesman confirmed.

The window washer was employed by Aeriel Window Cleaning, LLC, according to the Daily News. The Trib’s calls to the contractor were not returned.
“He was sitting outside the window, he was holding the window with the left hand and he was cleaning the window with his right hand,” a witness who had been working on a building across the street, told the Daily News.
