Police are investigating the death of a 43-year-old man who was found dead on Wednesday in the bathroom of the Tribeca jewelry store, World of Gold N Diamond, at Church and Duane streets, where he worked. Police say the victim, Omid Gholian, of Marine Park, Brooklyn, was lying on the floor with two zip ties around his neck.
Cops discovered the body around 6 p.m. after Gholian’s brother walked into the First Precinct to report that he had not seen Omid for the past two days, a police source said. A preliminary investigation, the source said, showed that nothing was taken from the store or was out of place and there was no sign of a struggle.
“It remains to be seen whether this is self-inflicted or a homicide,” the source said. An autopsy performed on Thursday was inconclusive, said a spokeswoman for the city's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. “The cause and manner of death are pending additional investigative information from police,” she said.
