UPDATE: On Tuesday, Feb. 28, the Medical Examiner's Office said it had determined that Gholian's death was a homicide caused by "compression of neck." As of Tuesday afternoon, police had yet to release information about possible suspects.

Police are investigating the death of a 43-year-old man who was found dead on Wednesday in the bathroom of his Tribeca jewelry store, World of Gold N Diamond, at Church and Duane streets. Police say the victim, Omid Gholian, of Marine Park, Brooklyn, was lying on the floor with two zip ties around his neck.

Cops discovered the body around 6 p.m. after Gholian’s brother walked into the First Precinct to report that he had not seen Omid for the past two days, a police source said. A preliminary investigation, the source said, showed that nothing was taken from the store or was out of place and there was no sign of a struggle.
