It was a rare sight on Friday. From morning to night, fog both hugged the Hudson and hung in the sky, creating a layered, ever-changing vista of shrouded boats, buildings and bridges. In what some saw as a kind of timely political commentary, Lady Liberty seemed to stand tall in the mist at one moment, only to be enveloped by it the next. Unseasonably warm air and cold water temperatures created the unusual condition.
