Taylor Swift’s alleged stalker was not only committing burglary but also violating an order of protection when he climbed into her apartment in the early hours of April 20, authorities say.
Roger Alvarado, 22, of Florida, had been ordered to stay away from the pop star’s Tribeca home on Franklin Street after police say he smashed her front door with a shovel on Feb. 16. A warrant was issued for the suspect after he failed to show up in court last month.
Alvarado was arrested again last week after police, responding to a reported burglary, say they found him sleeping in Swift’s apartment after showering there. He admitted to climbing into the apartment around 2 a.m. after using a ladder and smashing a window, according to the criminal complaint.
Alvarado is charged with second degree burglary and first degree criminal contempt. He is being held on $30,000 bail or $55,000 bond.
Swift was not in the apartment during either incident.
