It was a bad weekend for TD Banks in Lower Manhattan.
On Sunday, a little after 2:30 p.m., police say a robber got away with cash from the TD Bank at 182 Broadway after passing a note to a teller. Police describe the suspect, who they say fled on foot, as a white male with a scruffy beard, wearing a grey jacket with a hood and covering his face.
The day before, at almost the same time, a robber passed a note to a TD Bank teller at the 166 Chambers St. branch in Tribeca before leaving on foot with the cash, according to police. That suspect is described as a white male wearing black-and-white khaki shorts and white button-up shirt with a cross on it. Police say no weapon was displayed in either robbery, and the amount of money stolen in both heists was not disclosed.
According to an NYPD source, the same suspect is wanted in both robberies. A police spokesman said it is “way too soon” to make that determination.
