The Flea, 20 Thomas St.
The modern dance company Elisa Monte Dance (EMD) was founded by former Martha Graham principal Elisa Monte and currently helmed by Artistic Director Tiffany Rea-Fisher.
For its 39th anniversary season, Rea-Fisher will present the world premiere of “Emerged Nation,” an evening-length work comprised of three movements that each possess a message and emotional arc examining a nation in transformation. Inspired by the shifts in America’s civil and social mores, the work delves into the complex emotional landscape created by immigration, cultural acclimation and diversity.

This season, EMD has integrated the HP Reveal App as a part of the “Emerged Nation” experience. Audiences can download the app in advance. By scanning over parts of the printed program, one can view short videos about the sculpture “Tilted Arc,” the immigration process, the rehearsal process, and different streets in New York City.
On Saturday, Nov. 23 join Rea-Fisher, the musical composers and others will hold a talk-back after the show to learn more about the inspiration and behind the scenes work for this season.
