The Church Street School for Music and Art, 74 Warren St., is still under water, financially, nearly two months after massive flooding damaged its second-floor administrative offices [1] in March, the result of a fire in an apartment above it.
The offices remain displaced to makeshift workstations in the performance space on the ground floor and, through May, at Asphalt Green. While school administrators hope the demolition and rebuilding of the space at 72 Warren St. will be finished by September, when the school year begins, construction has not yet begun, according to Jason Hoffman, the school's marketing manager
In order to mitigate the financial burden of flood-related losses, the school is running a 35-day online crowdfunding campaign, with a goal of raising $30,000 by June 6 to defray the costs of replacing destroyed equipment and infrastructure, including eight computer workstations, telephone lines, an office copier, instruments and expensive sheet music among other items.on indiegogo.com. The campaign, at indiegogo.com, has so far raised just over $5,000.
