For two days this summer, one block of the Greenmarket-starved Financial District will become a haven for fresh food lovers with pop-up markets run by GrowNYC.
On Thursday, June 19 and Monday, July 7, farmers will be selling their goods from 13 tents that line Coenties Slip, between Water and Pearl streets, according to Catherine Chambers from GrowNYC’s Greenmarket program. Other farmers may be stationed around the corner on Pearl Street, pending approval, she said.
Local restaurateurs will arrive at about 3 p.m., with some of their dishes for sale and there will be live, unamplified music. The market will close at 8 p.m.
GrowNYC, which is running the two-day market in partnership with the Downtown Alliance, has also operated pop-up markets in Harlem, Union Square and various locations in Queens and Brooklyn.
