A construction worker at Tribeca’s Citigroup tower, 388 Greenwich Street, was injured Tuesday afternoon after a material box slid off a forklift and hit his leg, according to a source. The worker, who was not identified, was examined by an onsite medic and the FDNY, the source said, and transported to New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital. A Fire Department spokesman said he did not have information on the worker’s condition, only that it was not life-threatening.
The worker was said to be employed by Gabriel Steel Erectors, a subcontractor of Orange County Iron works. A call to Gabriel Steel Erectors was not returned.
The building is undergoing a five-year, $2 billion reconstruction project that will transform the look of the 388 Greenwich St. tower and the building next to it at 390 Greenwich.
