Competing Canines Show Off at Annual BPC Halloween Costume Contest

For the 23rd year, local canines paraded up the Battery Park City esplanade from South Cove to Esplanade Plaza (the volleyball court) on Saturday, Oct. 25 for the annual BPC Dogs Halloween Puppy Parade. More than 75 pets, outfitted as hot dogs and witches, banana splits, bath mats and many more, strutted before judges Rich Brotman, Liam Galloway and Rena Marino. Paula and Jeff Galloway, organizers of the event and founders of the Battery Park City Dog Association, say that only twice in its many years, for 9/11 and Covid, had they missed a chance to stage the popular event. “This is such a dog loving community,” Paula said.
