The group is looking for singers of all experience levels to join them for its upcoming season. “We are a fun group focusing on diverse music,” says chorus director Eugenia Yau, who chairs the college’s Music and Art Department.
BMCC students, faculty and staff members sing alongside residents and workers from Lower Manhattan and neighboring communities. The ability to read music is a plus but not a requirement. First-time chorus singers are also welcome.
Among the group’s annual concerts is a spring performance at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center, a holiday sing with the Trinity Church choirs and, in June, a performance in Carnegie Hall organized by Manhattan Concert Productions. Each concert has a theme.
Rehearsals take place each Tuesday from 7 to 9:45 p.m., starting Aug. 29, in Fiterman Hall, 245 Greenwich St. For more information or to schedule an audition, contact Yau at eyau@bmcc.cuny.edu.
