Lower Manhattan Primary Results: One State Assembly Race Too Close to Call

Update July 8, 2026: The city's Board of Elections has set Monday, July 13 for a hand recount of ballots for the Assembly District 66 race.

Just 56 votes Wednesday morning separated Jeannine Kiely from her closest rival, David Siffert, in Tuesday’s Democratic primary race to represent a large swath of Lower Manhattan’s west side, including Tribeca, in New York State Assembly District 66. With 85% of the votes counted—4,169 to 4,113—a winner had yet to be called. After holding that seat for 35 years, Deborah Glick chose not to run again.

In the contest for Lower Manhattan’s State Senate District 27, current State Assemblywoman Grace Lee handily defeated Yuh-Line Niou, 62% to 37%.  The office had been held by Brian Kavanagh, who declined to run again.

Illapa Sairitupac was the clear victor among the seven candidates vying for a seat in Lower Manhattan’s 65th Assembly District, which covers the Financial District, Chinatown and the Lower East Side. Grace Lee currently holds that office.

In a landslide, former city comptroller Brad Lander defeated incumbent Rep. Dan Goldman to represent Lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn in the 10th Congressional District.

Here are the results, as reported by the Times Union of Albany, with about 85% of the votes counted.
