Suspect Sought in Stabbing of Boy, 14, in Downtown Park
The NYPD released this photo of a suspect being sought in the stabbing of a boy in Elizabeth Berger Plaza.
Police say a 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest by an unknown assailant in Elizabeth Berger Plaza, near Battery Park, on Sunday, Aug. 20.
The boy was in the small park, at Edgar Street and Trinity Place, around 5 p.m. when he was approached by a man and a verbal pursuit ensued. The man punched the boy, produced a knife and stabbed him, according to police, who said the attacker then fled by bicycle. EMS transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital where he was listed at the time in stable condition.
Police are looking for the person in the above photo in connection with the assault. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-8477.
